Accounts and Administration Team

Sofia I. Russell

Senior Director, Accounts and Administration

Sofia's adventurous spirit gives her a great deal of empathy for achy patients who visit BreakThrough Physical Therapy. As one of the original team members, Sofia is the senior director of accounts and administration and is responsible for much of the behind-the-scenes efforts that allow the rest of the organization to run smoothly. She helps with troubleshooting client accounts, developing improved procedures through the organization, providing accounting support, and managing all contracting issues.

Since the late '60s, Sofia has explored California on foot, bike or horseback. Her travels took her to other countries as a musician and conquering her fear of heights by climbing Popocatépetl, an active volcano and the second highest peak in Mexico.

On most days, Sofia can often be found with a book in hand, scooting around on her electric skateboard or spending hours with her husband, three dogs and cat.

Karin Huber

Senior Accounts and Administration Specialist

Karin took on the varied and daily challenges of running a medical office after a diverse professional history in business, office administration, real estate and an education in nursing. Over the last 20 years, Karin's focus has been on raising her family and working in medical office administration and billing. Working with patients and staff, she tries to come up with positive solutions in terms of serving the patients' needs and solving problems created by the ever-increasing bureaucracy of the medical and insurance industries.

Outside of the office, Karin spends time with her two children, dog and friends. She has a passion for traveling and has been fortunate enough to explore a variety of locales around the world.

Lori Chandler, NCICS

Accounts and Billing Specialist

A small town farm girl from Wisconsin, Lori slowly moved west and settled in California with her son - a Life Scout working toward Eagle rank - and three cats. She began her career in retail working her way up to management. Lori has organized and managed the emergency response team at Home Depot; explored a financial interest at a credit union specializing in account research and reconciling ledgers; oversaw accounting, payroll and taxes for an electrician contractor; and ran her own online sales business. Lori studied business accounting at San Jose City College before changing routes to medical administration. She completed her education at Bryman College in medical insurance, coding and administration in 2006.

Lori maintains her national certification as an insurance billing and coding specialist, with specialty certification in physical medicine. In her free time, Lori enjoys wandering through local farmers' markets, working out with the help of her Wii, watching movies with lots of special effects, and finding new vegan recipes and restaurants to share with friends.
