Pelvic floor myalgia or pelvic floor tension myalgia is characterized by pain, pressure or discomfort in the rectum, pelvis, sacrum or coccyx. Pain with penetration and or a feeling of heaviness in the pelvis may exist. The pain is caused by tightness of one or more of the levator ani muscles. Studies have shown successful treatment includes relaxation training of the pelvic floor.

At BreakThrough Physical Therapy, we are trained in soft tissue mobilization, stretching and retraining of the pelvic floor muscles.
