How do you stay motivated to do physical therapy exercises at home?

Home Exercises

That is a great and very common question we hear a lot. Life gets busy and we often prioritize other things than our own wellbeing. One of the biggest incentives to stay motivated to do your exercises is to remember your “why”. Why did you need PT in the first place and what do you want to feel or not want to feel in the future? What do you want to be able to do that you cannot currently do? Often, patients don’t do them because they either lose focus on their “why” or it is possible their PT did not do a good enough job of explaining why each exercise is needed and precisely how to do it most effectively. Sometimes we give exercises that are too easy, too difficult or just plain boring. At BreakThrough, we foster open and honest communication so you are encouraged to let us know your experience. The more we know, the better we can help you get out of pain and back to the things you want to do. Sometimes we just get busy. You could find a system of setting a goal on your smart phone or watch if you have one or a simple calendar/diary where you can check things off, start off with goals for one week at a time rather than a longer period. After you have been Discharged from PT, you can always find a way to connect with a clinic that offers Wellness programs to help keep you motivated and going! At BreakThrough, in addition to our Telehealth services, we offer Unlicensed Healthcare services that can be used for people all over the world which would be another great option where we help you to stay motivated and on track towards your goals in every phase of care!

For one on one support, BreakThrough provides expert, cost and time effective one on one support in clinic as well as online health consultation services for thousands of people worldwide everyday. We’re happy to help you and your family any way we can.
