Vestibulodynia is also referred to as Vulvar Vestibulitis which means pain in the vestibule region of the vulva. The pain can limit sexual relations, tampon use, and type of clothing worn. Vestibulodynia can also involve dyspareunia or vaginismus.
In physical therapy, we perform a comprehensive evaluation of the pelvic floor and supporting structures. We will aim to release adhesions of the connective tissue which can be the underlying cause of sensitivity of the vestibule. We will treat any underlying abnormalities of the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding tissues. To ensure your comfort and privacy, all Pelvic Floor treatments are held in our Private Treatment Rooms. Please call (408) 736-7600 to schedule an appointment with one of our women’s health and pelvic floor specialists.
